I’m staring at a Western Digital hard drive that I accidentally kicked over onto the floor a couple of hours ago. From the consultations and research since, I understand that I’m heading into the usurious world of data recovery. The mysterious and expensive world. But there you go. It’s a capper on an already completely, red-liningly messed up week.

But, out of this crazy world comes a beautiful piece of music. With a rocking video to go with it.

oh baby, i think we’re next in line... this is a great RO live piece, but somewhere along the line we live/studio recorded it, again on the good old TEAC. kind of unnerving when you see that little pile of graphite under the playhead after each run thru. al and ian on the alcohol Q-tip duty. anyway, we scooped this one before it faded away. mixed by al and phil.

Soul on Ice

the song -- it’s called soul on ice and it was originally recorded at noise annoys studio. We used an older TEAC 8-track to get the bed tracks, vox and guitars. al and I worked on the mix, adding a guitar track and 2nd vox. We tried mixing it at dave drave’s studio but that was all a bit mild and polite. this mix is wild.
